ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
Can I still collect on my LP
claim if the siding has been
replaced before payment to
me?
You do not have to wait to
collect the proceeds from
your claim before having
your siding replaced. Be
sure your home is inspected
by an authorized inspector
from the claim action before
proceeding. We recommend you
contact Louisiana Pacific
directly for other details
regarding your claim and
receipt of payment.
Can I replace only the most
damaged siding and leave the
rest?
We don't recommend partial
replacements. While it may
look alright to replace only
the most visibly damaged
siding, the rest will
eventually fail as well
leaving yet another
replacement job ahead. If
you sell your home with
partially replaced siding
you will be required to
disclose that at the time of
the sale. There is also a
distinct savings per square
foot when replacing the
siding on the entire home in
one job versus breaking it
into smaller, sectional
jobs.
Should I be concerned about
dry rot under my LP siding?
We can help you diagnose
whether dry rot may exist in
your home. It most often
appears in areas of poor
installation or where water
is allowed to constantly run
on the siding or behind it.
Extremely soft siding, mold
and heavy moss are symptoms
of excessive moisture.
How long does the siding
replacement take?
A typical home usually takes
1 1/2 to 2 weeks for the
siding work to be completed.
Plan for another 2 to 4 days
for the painting of your
home pending clear weather.
How much disturbance is
there during construction?
Other than the space
required for a disposal
dumpster, new materials and
other minor equipment, you
should expect very little
disturbance to your life.
The actual application of
new siding will result in
some noise such as the
occasional banging of
hammers or nail guns. Work
needing to be performed on
weekends or at odd times
beyond the normal work day
will be scheduled in advance
and approved by you.
Will there be any interior
drywall damage?
Occasionally there can be
some minor "nail pops" on
the inside of your walls due
to the impact of hammering
the siding on the outside.
Our follow-up service expert
will repair any nail pops
that may appear on the
inside of your walls.
Will my landscaping and
plantings survive the siding
installation?
Yes. We take every
precaution possible to
protect your landscaping
from our ladders and
footsteps. However, some
minor damage can occur,
especially during the time
of year when plants are in
full bloom. If this is a
concern for you please let
us know. You may also wish
to schedule your replacement
before the growing season
has begun.
Is it possible to hide those
existing unsightly phone and
TV wires?
In most cases we can hide
wires that have been
attached to your siding
since the home's original
construction. Some existing
phone and TV wires originate
from ground boxes that
cannot be changed.
How do you replace the
siding behind the deck that
is attached to my home?
For most homes, the single
board behind where the deck
is attached will be left in
place and a special piece of
flashing or wood trim
attached above it to deflect
rainfall.
Are two coats of paint
necessary?
We prefer to apply two coats
of paint to the finish of
your home. The extra coat
usually adds just a few
hundred dollars to the total
expense, but will more than
likely double the life of
your paint job.
What about disposal of old
siding?
Your estimate will include
all disposal and haul-out of
old materials. We use
industrial dumpsters so that
no unsightly piles of debris
will remain in your yard. We
work hard to keep your
property looking tidy.
